Newport
Harbor Christmas Boat Parade of Lights: You
will be truly wowed at the sight of over 200 lighted and elaborately
decorated boats parading through Newport Harbor, every evening
from December 15 through December 19, all competing for the
Sweepstakes award. Spectacularly lit homes lining the bay also
compete for awards. 
The NEWPORT CHANNEL INN Staff are
happy to share their favorite viewing spots, or help our Guests
arrange a boat cruise to see the parade from the water. Be
advised that window tables at bayside restaurants must be
reserved weeks ahead of time. Be sure to reserve your room
at the NEWPORT
CHANNEL INN well ahead of time too.
Whale
Watching Trips: See
the migrating California Gray Whales
from the deck of a tour boat, any day during January, February
and March. Spotter airplanes are sent out ahead of the boats
so the boat captains know just where to go to find these magnificent
animals. Dolphin and Blue Whale cruises year-round. Discounts are available for NEWPORT CHANNEL INN Guests.
PGA Toshiba Classic Golf Tournament: Follow your favorite golf legend from green to green. The Toshiba Classic tees off in March at the Newport Beach Country Club. Other PGA events take
place at the challenging Pelican Hill Course overlooking the
Pacific Ocean.
Newport Beach Film Festival: Come in March to see the movie stars at the premiéres of future classics.
Surf City Paintball Open: Watch paintball teams from all over the world compete in 5 -man and 7-man divisions from beginner to professional, sponsored by the U.S. Paintball League. (March/April)

Beach International Yacht Race: View
the amazing start of this April race with over 500 sails on
the water at the same time.
Newport Beach Jazz Festival: Two weekends in May with the best Jazz artists in the world. For more live music, there is also the Newport Beach Jazz Series on Friday nights from June through September, and the free Wednesdays Under the Stars Concerts at Fashion Island during July and August.
AVP Pro Beach Volleyball and U.S. Open of Body Boarding: Watch some of the best beach volleyball athletes in the world, including Olympics medalists, compete in exciting 2-person team matches, held alongside the Body Boarding Championships and a Professional Longboard Association Event. (June)
Newport Beach Vintage Car Show and Auction: June is the month to come bid on that classic automobile you wish you had when you were a kid.
Fireworks
over the Bay: Ooh and ahh at a terrific display every Fourth
of July at 9 p.m. Earlier in the day you can watch the decorated
Independence Day Character Boat Parade in Newport Harbor. Marching Bands and Colorful Floats have been a part of the annual Main Street 4th of July Parade in Huntington Beach for over 100 years now.
Orange County Fair: Rides, Rodeos, Animals, and Exhibits at the fairgrounds in July. Many other shows and fairground events occur throughout the year.
Pageant
of the Masters Art Festival: Live actors portray famous
works of art. Tickets for this July and August event should
be obtained weeks ahead of time.
Sawdust Festival: Spend a summer afternoon under the oaks at this annual arts, crafts and music festival. Discounts are available for NEWPORT CHANNEL INN Guests.
U.S.
Open Professional Surfing Championship: The world's best
surfers compete in mid-summer for the title. Several other surfing contests, including NSSA surf events, and sponsored surf events from Volcom, Billabong, Hurley, and Oakley are held throughout the year at the beach just across from the NEWPORT CHANNEL INN and just up the beach near the Huntington Beach Pier.
Beach Games: Surf, sun, boards and bikes all converge mid-summer near the Huntington Beach Pier, just up the beach from the NEWPORT CHANNEL INN. Professional skateboarding, beach volleyball, BMX and freestyle motocross all together with the U. S. Open Professional Surfing Championship make for a very exciting week.
Newport Beach Sandcastle Contest: Observe the architects build those fabulous creations you always see on the nightly news, or join in and build your own on a selected weekend each Fall.
Taste
of Newport: Sample Newport Beach's best restaurants,
California's best wineries and dance to music's legends
during this three day event on a weekend in September.
Headliners have included the Beach Boys, Train, The B-52’s, Sugar Ray, DEVO, and American Idol winner David Cook.
